The Problem with Metal

Amalgam fillings are unsightly, but also unstable, and it is the latter that causes a majority of the issues related to these restorations. The metal used in fillings cannot be bonded to teeth. In order for this substance to fill a cavity, it must be packed deeply into the cavity. This process requires the removal of a large amount of healthy tooth enamel and can significantly damage the structure of the tooth.

Once placed, metal fillings expand and contract with heat fluctuations. Though these changes in size are unnoticeable, they are doing irreversible damage and often result in broken teeth and exposed cavities.

Metal-Free Fillings Offer Solutions

White fillings are bonded to the surface of the tooth where they serve to prevent further damage and decay. These fillings are not impacted by heat changes, will not come loose or fall out, and do not threaten the integrity of adjacent enamel. The fact that they look completely natural is simply icing on the cake.
